Mesquite borers - clear or black plastic?

Somewhere I came across a thread about covering mesquite wood with plastic and putting it in the sunshine to kill the borers.

Don't recall if it specified or even makes a difference as to which. I would think the black would definitely get hot enough to kill the suckers.

Has anyone tried it and how long did it take?
