    I'm an IDIOT!

I have just been preparing to take my BT apart to mount it on its new base and I did something really stupid.

As I am going to be putting on new tables I thought I would check the dual miter slot and found it wasnt quite level with the main table so though I would re level it.

Probably a good idea but just as I undid the bolts I realized that it moves in all directions and I have three sleds that were setup to where it was before I undid it!!!

Now I not only have to shim it level and reset it to the blade but somehow have to get it set in exactly the right place to match my sleds.

So there goes another few hours....

I am just about to break for lunch so if anybody has any smart idea of how I can do this without a lot of sweat and cussing I would appreciate it.

    Cart before the horse?

Can't you put one sled on the back, tighten the front, then slide it down toward the front, and tighten the back. Then just verify by sliding the other sleds through it (assuming they have sliders for the miter slots)?
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

      As predicted 2 hrs later...

Thats basically what I have done. Then made a bunch of cuts until all the sleds were cutting sq again. The unfortunate downside is that although they are now sq. the slight movement has changed the profile of the slot so they arent quite zero clearance anymore.

Oh well I had been meaning to make a sled with removable inserts for ZC so I guess I will add that to the list.

if the bottom is thick enough you could route a slot for a ZC insert to sit in there. Or you could build up the base to make them all ZC.

Good ideas, I was considering both options. The base is 1/2" on my main x-cut sled. Putting in a secondary base of 1/4" MDF seems like the easiest option.

Routing out a few inches either side of the cutline and having a replaceable insert seems like a good idea. I could cut a 1/4" rabbet and do the same on some replaceable 1/2" inserts. That way I could also use the sled with a dadoe blade.

With my panel sled its easy enough to make a new one or I could just move the runner and trim it back to match the blade.
