    Installing Quadrant Hinges

Does anyone have any tips/ tricks for installing quadrant hinges? I have a few music boxes that I'm making that I'd like to use them on, and have no idea on how to properly mortise the peices to fit the plate and the stop bracket/ whatever it's called.

    Thanks!

Nevermind- I thought I had previously Googled this, but I just checked again and found my answer. Looks like I need a router table fence now...

You could also use an inlay router setup. I have used this method for other odd shaped mortises that I need to make. You use the hinge as a guide to make a template in masonite or other thin stock. You then can then use the template to mortise the shape wherever you want.

    On Amazon for ~$26.

Alternatively you could trace the hinge on the music box and use a plunge router/chisel to make the mortises.
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

They get mortised (you could just use a chisel) just like butt hinges with the additional length on the sides. Just position the hinge and reference its position for both locations. Some of those have small pin protrusions that mark their position.
