Football display Case

Someone has asked me to make a few display cases for his football collection. He wants a solid cherry or mahogany base and a clear plexi/acrylic cube over the top of the ball. I have priced them on-line (just the cubes without a base) but it seems cost prohibitive to order a few "cubes" and make the bases for them. Anyone know of a source for cheap plexi cubes or have any thoughts on a better approach?

You can buy the plexi and make your own cubes. The BORGs sell it in sheets. You might do a little better going to a glass place. The hardest part of the glue up is keeping the plexi clean. Don't peel the paper off until it is all assembled.
