    Plywood Sandwich

    Hi

I need to laminate two sections of 3/4 inch plywood for a drill press table. What is the best glue to use -- titebond or contact cement?

I had a similar situation when making a replacement table for my Radial Arm Saw. I used Titebond II and clamped it around the outside edges to a cast-iron tablesaw top. None of my Jet clamps could reach the middle so I just set a bag of sand on it. I let it cure for 24-hours and took all the clamps off.

I have seen other postings recommending yellow glue but this is what I had on hand. It worked great and is flat to within .003".

Titebond is plenty strong. the plys will give way long before the glue does.

Wood to wood, tightbond should work fine.

I used contact cement for my drill press cabinet top, but it was two pieces of 3/4 white laminated MDF.
