    Shop Cabinets

The new Playpen is on hold for a while so I needed to clear all the floor space in the current one. Obvious solution is to rip out the shelving and and replace them with wall mounted shelves or cabinets.

Got the carcases done this weekend and hope to have time in the evenings this week to get the face frames and doors done have them ready to paint next Sunday. Then empty the walls first thing Monday morning and hang them.

The right wall will have four 18" high x 24" wide cabinets with one adjustable shelf. The back wall will hold one 36" wide x 30" high divided cabinet and two 24" wide cabinets all with 2 adjustable shelves. The right rear corner will either get a 30" high corner cabinet built to fit or adjutable shelves anchored to the back and side cabinets. Over all I will gain a bit of shelf space but will loose some pegboard space.

Construction is 3/4" plywood sides, top, and bottom with 1/4" back. The bottom is set in a 3/8" dado and the top and sides are rabbeted. Since they are going to be painted, I used any pieces I had available without regard to grain direction or appearance. Face frame and doors will be Poplar. Doors will have 3/16" pegboard panels.

Looking good. Are you going to be adding drawers and doors or leaving them open?

Looks like a good start Pappy. Hope you have a spray painter.

Looks like you were and will be busy. Why not just make frameless cabinets?
