    made some platens today

I have a new vac press that I haven't tried yet, and I have a new veneering project, so I made some platens today. 4 total, 2 are 24x36, the other 2 are 12x24. I'll keep you all posted as to how this press performs. At 320$ it's a pretty cheap solution for vacuum press veneering.

Hey Keith, if your pump is homemade, be sure to post pics. I don't know if you
surf Woodnet, but someone over there made a Vacuum Frame Panel. Very
slick. One of the things that's challenging for me is putting a large piece into
a veneer bag, laying out the breather material, then closing up the bag before
things start to curl or bubble. If I ever clean my shop enough, I might consider
    the frame option.
