    Box Springs

I need to get a couple box springs for some twin beds. Is there any reason I can't just make them? I can't see anything special about them. I figure just a tortion box, with 1/4" ply on both sides. I'm talking about the ones without springs, so maybe it's ot really a box spring .

I haven't priced them, so I don't know if it's worth it or not.

Are you talking about a frame for a twin bed?

I remember having bunk beds, there was a mattress that sat on a piece of plywood with a little cushion / padding on one side and covered in cloth.

Torsion box for a bed, OUCH! Pressure points through the mattress sounds like insomnia in the making. Suggest platform bed if looking for something nice otherwise box springs with cheap metal frames.

The quality and style of the mattress and the weight of the person using the bed might come into play a bit....a kid should have no trouble...big teen/adult, hard to say. I think you could probably build one but I'd use Ric's suggestion to use a pad.

Are you buying new mattresses too? We recently needed a twin mattress for a bunk bed. I actually found a surprisingly good mattresses at Ollie's Bargain Outlet...the mattress was priced @ $140 as an individual piece, the box spring @ $90, but as a set it was priced at $160 for both....for $20 I grabbed the box spring and upgraded one of the other kid's beds while we were at it....now it makes a suitable guest bed for an adult.
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.
