    I posted a new tutorial...

If you are like me, you are seldom to get to the main bt3 page, as my browser auto completes to the forum page, so I thought I'd post a heads up that I did a little tutorial on treating veneer edges for book-match glue ups.

You can check it out here....

Good tutorial. Great way of jointing. I've done it that way and on some veneers, I use a shop made block sander made using a 3x21 sanding belt. I cut a 3" piece of 5/8" or 3/4" anything just long enough to force into the belt to stretch it tight. It gives me a sanding block about 9 plus inches long that's easy to hold and is useful for other tasks that require flattening. I've experienced some veneers don't edge plane absolutely flawlessly.

        Thanks for posting your method.
I do something similar when jointing for bookmatched soundboards and backs of guitars and other string instruments. These boards are thicker than veneer (3/16" - 1/4" rough). I use a shooting board. Here is a link I Googled that shows a method very close to mine.
