    Leather rocker seat replacement

My wife has an old rocker that was her great grandmother's. It has a torn leather circular insert in the middle of the seat. It is beyond repair and needs to be replaced.

She is looking for something different than what Rockler offers. The old seat has a dragon or eagle on it, it is hard to tell exactly. She wants something different though.

We have googled and have not come up with much. It looks like everything we find is the same thing that Rockler offers.

Has anyone here restored any old furniture? If so, do you have any resources for old parts that can be used to restore old furniture?

Thanks in advance for any help.

For what it is worth, I "caned" a couple old chairs with yellow nylon mason's string.

Why not check out Tandy, you can get a piece of leather and tools and patterns to make what you want.
Sometimes the old man passed out and left the am radio on so I got to hear the oldie songs and current event kind of things

Thanks for the replies Daryl and Don,

We have a Tandy store locally that has come up as a possibility, I would like to avoid that solution though, I have plenty of other projects I would like to get to, perhaps if the LOML wants to create the pattern we can go that route, but I certainly don't want to add a whole new project like that to my list. I guess I am being selfish.

The hole in the rocker is round, I wonder how hard it would be to cane that? I guess I will see if she wants to consider caning it.

The Architectuals website is one that didn't come up with our searches, hopefully she will like one of the 2 round patterns they have. That website has a lot of really neat stuff on it. Thanks for the link.

Thanks again for the help guys!

        take care,
        Kevin
