    Sassafras

How does it cut, finish and would it be good for a small cabinet in a bathroom?

    Thanks,

Sassafras works well. Pretty easy to cut, takes stain and finish coats well. It's a bit more prone to splitting and splintering than some, but not bad. It's fairly moisture resistance so should be a good choice for your bathroom cabinet. Smells nice too.
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

What Dustmight said. My first turnings on a lathe was with Sassafras about 15 years ago. I did that for about a week. Being somewhat brittle it created the most disgusting dust I could imagine. After making several canister tops, I quit turning until 2 years ago when I started pens.

What I used had beautiful grain and I get compliments on the tops even today.
