Adhesive-backed sandpaper uses

While building this coping sled I found out how useful these sandpaper can be. I'm sure many of you already know that. After sticking some on the sled I decided to put some on the router table fence( which I always have to tighten very tight or it will move), and what a difference it made. The fence now stays in place with less pressure. I now use it on my clamp rack, F-clamp face, pipe clamp and other surfaces that require some friction. I use the Norton 3X 150 grit from HD.
BTW, the sled is 3/8 X 12 X 12 acrylic for $10. Hold down clamp for $6. Total of $16. Knobs and bolts I already have.

This looks like a good idea. I've been using spray adhesive on regular sandpaper, which can be a bit of a mess.

It's funny you should start this thread. I have been running a lot of wood through my router table with sled not too different from yours (not too different if you disregard the fact that yours is better built with more features and very cool looking). I put sandpaper on the the fence where the wood rests and it makes a huge difference in keeping the wood in place.

Nice sled! Can you share a little about how you use it?

As you can see, I first setup the fence so that it's flush with the router bit bearing guide, then I push the sled using the fence as a guide. I use a 3/4" backer to prevent tear out. I may also use a stop block to prevent the bit cutting pass the backer.

The camera is a little cheapo so the color and focus is off.

Thanks for posting the pic. Your setup is similar in principle to mine, except for all the nice bits, as mentioned before.
