    Staining BB ply

I'm in a pickle again. How do I stain BB ply with a dark cherry, mahogany or other color without blotching ? It's for a desk top so it will be very visible.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Minwax makes a stain conditioner. It works fairly well if you follow the instructions on the can. It never hurts to make sample pieces.

The product that Jan is referring to is called Wood Conditioner. I've used it with mixed results. Why not do as he said and do some test pieces. You might find that you don't need it.

Thanks guys. After all my obsessing LOML asked why I didn't just poly it for a light and lighter rather than a light and dark look. Problem solved. For future needs if I have some larger scraps left I will try staining it to see what happens.
            Thanks again
