Sanding stairs , sander for in the corners

Have a number of stairs that currently have carpet. Carpet is going to be removed, stair treads sanded and painted and a runner installed.
What would be the best way of sanding in the corner(s)
What about one of those detail sander with the triangular nose - any good?

    thanks

I have used a Ryobi Corner Cat and it does a pretty fair job.

I've only used my Corner Cat a couple times, but that's the thing it's made for!

The paper made for the B&D Mouse will work, but it's a little small.

Or maybe that little P-C Belt Sander--don't have one, so I don't know.

Or a teen ager with a sanding block....

        WELCOME TO THE FORUM

If you don't have one of those pointy nose sanders, you could try a cabinet scraper, like this.

I have to go with Cabman on this one. Scraping in better than the little sanders designed for that. Especially if you are remodeling with layers of old stuff. For painting, that will get rid of anything you don't want to cover up.
Personally, I have never found the need to own a thing such as the Mouse. I have used them, but they are pretty much a gimmick in my eyes. They will be fine for one job though. Thats why they sell so many.
