I wonder whether anyone has done this with the HF half-blind dovetail jig.
It seems to me that by correctly positioning the fence I can cut up to two 3/4 inch or 6 1/2 inch thick boards at once using the straight portion of the template fingers to properly guide the bushing.
If I use a 1/4 shank, 1/2 inch straight bit and a 1/2 OD router template, it seems I can use the jig in a slightly different way than it was intended to make box joints. For the pieces that have to be offset by 1/2" from the others, I could initially cut them 1/2" wider, align all the pieces so they start at the same point, then simply rip off the extra finger when I'm done. To make a 4" deep box, I'd rip 2 - 4 1/2 inch pieces and 2 - 4 inch pieces, cut the fingers, then rip one finger off the 4 1/2 inch piece.
I know I can also buy other templates for this jig and will look into getting some of them. Although I know lots of people make box joints using their table saws, for some reason doing it that way has never appealed to me. I guess I'll try this method out and report back.
