Need help identifying period style of cabinets

My wife is going for a 1930's/1940's theme for her home office. Drapes, paint,
accessories, furniture. That's where I come in. She can't quite put her finger
on what she wants, but I get to build it. I'm especially interested in door
styles and molding. I know this is really vague but any links would help. I've
tried "watch movies from that era" but understandably, the directors focus on
    the actors than the furniture.

I'm thinking Carry Grant, Howard Hughes (without the crazy), Jimmy Stewart,
    etc.

    Thanks,
    Paul

How about going to a library and looking up microfilm magazines from that era. If you can't find any check your local newspaper for ads. Either one should get you more than you need but both will be time intensive.

"1930s/1940s" is a pretty wide span for design, but have a look at the furniture links here to start with, to see if you've got to include or exclude Art Deco. Good luck!

Thanks Ray!! That is a good site, I just peeked at the American art deco section. That is the 30's and 40's time frame alright. There are some movies that have that type of furniture, the Bogart movies, the Thin Man series and Alfred Hitchcock. If you get TCM turner classic movies, there are usually a half dozen movies of that time frame running. You should get some good ideas.
