Sizing drawer slides

About to order drawer slides but want to make sure I get the correct size.
My cabinet is 18" from outside front edge of face frame to the back of the cabinet. Since I am making inset drawer fronts I believe an 18" slide is too big. Right? (I know this seems obvious but are they sized for inset fronts?

I believe I will need to get a 16" slide.

You are correct, they come in even sizes. The slides don't care if the front is inset or overlay.
