    Clock Kit

Well I thought I would share this with you guys seeing as I have had little time for woodworking in awhile now.

I have for sometime now been kicking around the idea of building a grandfather clock. I have thought about this to the point where I have been researching different clock movments and so on. Here about a week and half ago I was on the Klockit website looking at movements and options when I happened into the clearance section of the site. While there I found a wall hanging clock that I really liked so I showed the wife, well she loved it and said she had just the spot for something like that so I went ahead and bought the kit and the plans. Should be an interesting experience as I don’t seem to get along well with plans and seem to deviate greatly.

Well today when I got home the kit and plans were waiting for me at the door. I will have to say even though this is my first and only order with Klockit I am impressed. This little bag seems to have everything in it but the wood! They even have a bag of large rubber bands that I can only assume are ment to be used as clamps. They have included the various grits of sandpaper and even the small drill bits they recommend using and a small bottle of wood glue. I had to kind of chuckle when I saw all this as this is certainly no Kit that I have seen at Woodcraft or Rockler to say the least.

The plans themselves are not what you would see in say a magazine project where they say “On the tablesaw make a ¼” deep Dado etc.” but more like a set of construction blueprints and at this time they almost appear to me to be to scale.

Anyhow, should be an interesting project and I find myself pretty impressed with the contents and quality of the Klockit kit so I thought I would share and I will be sure to post some pictures when I finish it.

Looking forward to seeing this. My curiosity is up! And with this being done by you, I have great expectations!

I agree about Klockit, Ken. I did a project using their kit at Christmas. I was very impressed with the materials, particularly the clock face.

My project had been written up in Wood Mag, though, so it had the usual instructions we're used to.

      Good Luck,

That's pretty symbolic there Ken. Got no time for wood working so you decide to make a time piece...

I like it... Looking forward to the finished project pics..

I used to get their catalogs, years ago. But I never ordered a kit from them. I'll be looking forward to seeing the results.

The first thing I thought of when you mentioned the rubber bands, was that I hoped they weren't meant to power the clock mechanism.
