    Bed Design

A friend of my wife's has issued an RFQ for a bunk bed for her son. Budget is a factor and the project will be painted. I'm not looking to make much $$$, I will just have fun doing it. Here is my loose plan so far:

2x6 stiles and rails for the footboard/headboard. there will be a top rail, middle rail and bottom rail. Top section of footbard/headboard will have slats (probably 1x4) in it. Bottom will be left open so he can crawl in and out. The rails that hold the mattress will be 2x6. All joints will be m/t. The mattress rails will be additionally pinned with screws through the head/footbards. The m/t joint will hold them up, the screws will be there just to hold them in.

    What do you think?

Well that is why the screws are on the mattress rails so you can knock it down. But I won't have to move it, cept maybe to deliver it.
