    If you are bent on using plywood, "marine plywood" differs from "exterior" mainly in that "marine" has no voids in the core. For exterior use it beats "exterior" by a long shot. The other problem besides moisture, using plywood, is insect infestation. We live in the same area and you know the problems in South Florida.

    Larry was right about the edges of ply having to be sealed. That is harder than you think. It doesn't take much of a gap for moisture or vapor to get to the plies.

    A while back I gave you a list of suppliers within 10 - 15 miles from you. You can get all the Redwood here you want. I used to have a contract making hot tub and jacuzzi spas and steam rooms, using Redwood, Cedar, and sometimes Cypress. The difference in using lumber is dynamic. Even in their natural state those woods have a natural resistance against moisture, insects, and rotting.

    One last thought is that lumber is easier to carry home than a sheet or two of plywood.
