    Working with spalted/punky wood

I got some cherry lumber from a guy off Craigslist. A few of the boards are on
their way to being spalted/rotten but not quite there. I can press my finger
into it. Anyway, I think it's salvageable, but how? The boards are thick so I
plan to resaw them and hope for the best. It might make a nice accent piece.
How do I make this wood stable again? Could I coat it shellac or something to
    stop the decay process?

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Paul,
Thin CA will fill the soft area and make it workable. The 'decaying' has already stopped. Decay/spalting needs moisture content at or near the fiber saturation point of about 30%.
