    Drawer box material?

Getting ready to start on a built-in that will have several drawers. My question is what type of material would you recommend for the drawer boxes? Some type of plywood, but I do not want to have to worry about edge banding and such if possible. I have seen pictures of this but am not sure what to ask for when I go to get it.

    thanks in advance.

It is called baltic birch plywood. The most common thickness for drawers is 1/2" and it comes originally in sheets 5'x5' size. Baltic birch plywood has more layers than regular plywood and, most importantly, has no voids. So you don't have to worry about edges, they look decent as is.

      jcrenick,
Here are some 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood drawers. Upper edge treatment is just a round-over on both sides, sanded (but not yet finished).
There is a tendency to chip or tear out when using Baltic Birch ply.

Thank, the drawers look even better today. Took them to work with me an shot 'em with a couple coats of moisture resistant lacquer. Makes the grain along the roundovers on the top and the dovetails stand out a bit more.
