Christmas is just around the corner. Knowing that a few members build gifts, I was wondering what some are planning or building at the moment for their family and friends.

I have a diesel locomotive toy box under construction for my grandson. that will be the only "shop gift" this year.

I've made a small box for each of my grandsons and since I got a lathe earlier this year most people will be getting round stuff, like pens, bottle stoppers and bowls. I'm also going to make a book case for my son but that will probably be late as he hasn't given me the masurements of the area where it's to fit yet.

Supposed to be making some picture frames. Haven't started them yet and I doubt I will have time to do anything.

SWMBO has commissioned an oak hall table for my in-laws. Guess I better start shopping for oak...

Picture frames here too. I am jigging up to crank out a load of them. I acquired a small stash of walnut shorts for cheap, so it seemed like a good way to go.

Just built a floor standing pool cue rack (15 sticks) for my brother out of oak, I still have to apply a poly finish.


Turning a lot of candle holders for gifts too. I did the picture frames last year.

This is more "planning to build". We'll see...

Remember those 45 degree wine bottle holders? I would llike to personalize a few by making them into letters (last name initial) instead of just a slab of wood.

And for the bottled beer drinkers, I have been thinking of a six pack bottle (is it still carton if it is made from wood?) design to spiff up the gift of imports.

Russ, I'm making a couple or three of those myself for my bosses. Thought it might be a nice little gift along with a bottle of wine. Mine won't be near the quality of yours, though.

Russ, that six pack "carton" is a great idea. I have a BIL that is a beer devotee' and that would be perfect. There are a few places around here that sells imports and microbrews in singles. I would love to see pics when you are done.

Tone drum from last month's Wood for my youngest Grandson and a pair of barrister CD holders for the older two. I have 2 cutting boards for the daughter-in-laws. Haven't figured out the boys, the wife, or the granddaughter yet.
