    scroll saw tips anyone?

I just got the Dewalt scroll saw, and have been playing around with it for the last couple of days. I have managed to do some 1/2 decent double bevel marquetry cuts with it, but was wondering if anyone had any tips for doing marquetry or fretwork with the scroll saw.

The hard stuff is (naturally) making those pin point turns, and avoiding blowouts when dealing with 1/32" thick veneers.

Glad you're having fun. It's a great tool to have and very useful. For cutting veneers like that I find it easier and more accurate to use a "new-bladded" utility knife or an Exacto knife for the intricate lines. You're not moving the material, have a better view, and no vibration to deal with. It takes a little practice to develop the feel for keeping the knife at the proper angle. And for pattern matching, you can lay one medium on top of another and "knife" through both at the same time for that so called "perfect fit". Good luck.

Found an easy way to do this, here is what I do

      1. Saw straight into the corner and turn the saw off.
      2. Rotate workpiece 30 degrees (no more than that).
      3. Hold workpiece stationary and turn saw on for 2 or 3 cuts (cycles).
      4. Repeat 2 & 3 until you complete the corner.

      This produces perfect pinpoint corners.
