Buying Wood

Friends and Gurus,

Since I now have completed the lighting in my den, I am now thinking about coffer and end tables.

So my question is, how do you get wood? (get your mind out the gutter and into the wood shop )

The wood I am thinking using is mahogany and I found this web site.

What are you thoughts? They have some 20BF hobby packs that include shipping and they have some 100 BF super packs that do not include shipping.

These guys have a polished web site so my first thought is that I might not be getting the best prices with them.

I have not hit the local lumber yards yet for price comparison but that should happen this week end.

another good online dealer is www.woodworkerssource.net not the cheapest but good quality.

Check www.woodfinder.com and the phone book. ebay can also get you nice lumber on occasion.

Those prices look ok to me. I just finished a mahogany project for which I paid about $8/bf for 8/4 s2s.

I haven't ordered online only because I'd want to see the wood I'm going to use for a furniture project. I have no reason to believe a vendor would sell you junk, but i'm just that picky.

I jsut spoke to a local supplier US Mahogany Corp.

They sell 4/4 for 5.75 a BF. No shipping for me they are 15 miles away but got to pay the tax man (7% now thanks to our theiving goverment ).
