How would you secure the fences to miter sled?

I am finally building one of these and was simply going to use extra long deck screws up thur the bottom into the fence to give it some added strength from like falling over, you know what I mean. I'll of course use yellow glue but felt it a good idea to not just rely on glue since the fence is only 2 each 3/4" ply glued together so the base is not all that wide to begin with. Any suggestions or do you think the screws and glue would guarantee no mishaps like pushing the fence down during a cut. I was thinking about dowels too using this pretty inexpensive rig. http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=5312 Also since I'm cheap if I did get this dowling jig would it come in handy for other projects. Anybody actually have one?

I used screews and glue, worked real well. The glue allow me to make final adjustments, when it set used screws to insure it did not move

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I guess screws would do I just didn't know if dowels or something would be better. Using a plate joiner probably wouldn't be as strong in this application I don't suppose. Hey nice clamps you got there Rod. You rich guys have all the nice stuff.

My original miter sled used screws and glue. The updated version is glue only.

I have had issues with screws moving the wood while securing. Even when I pre-drill so instead I glue, clamp and secure by shooting a few brads. Works better for me as I am anal enough that it has to be dead on.
