How would you make this top?

I need to replace some of my fence and was looking for something different. Any ideas how this top was made? Is it bent wood and if so how hard is it to do?

If that's wood, then my guess would be a CNC milling machine. Not easily done by hand or in a small shop due to the numbers involved.


It is basically the same piece over and over again. there would be a halflap joint at the crossing point. make two identical pieces and then turn one around to make the crossing. repeat a gazillion times.
