    Need Help with Flooring

Got to replace floor in area that could get wet. Has anyone used the OSB they sell at Home Depot as "Subflooring?" (I think they call it Great American something.) I was told that it is not regular OSB and that it has much more "glue" than normal and weighs about twice as much as regular OSB. I would not want to use the regular OSB in an area prone to wetness for fear it would come apart. But the HD guy assured me that this OSB Subflooring material was better than anything they sell for this usage. He said pressure treated plywood could mildew and would not recommend that although HD stood to make much more on its sell than on the OSB he recommended. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

OSB gets wet some during construction but will become rough if it has water stand on it a few times. Pressure treated plywood would hold up better but could still mildew, as the clerk suggested. No wood will survive forever if it gets wet repeatedly. Can't you eliminate the source of water? If not, can you put concrete in the spot? If it is only occasional dampness, not standing water, then either OSB or pressure treated should work.

      Thanks JimD

Thanks JimD for the reply. The plywood is going to be used for subflooring in a bathroom underneath a toilet. Unfortunately, there was an undetected leak which led me to this project. The source of water will, of course, be stopped. But since there is no way in the future to check for leaks besides taking up the toiled from time to time, I wanted something that will not easily rot or come apart from a "small" leak. Thanks again.
