Mahogany cut-offs
I have a local source of Honduran Mahogany "hobby blanks" at $1.98/pound CDN.
Most of the pieces are under 20" long and anywhere from 1/2" to 3" thick x 2-3" wide.
I scrounged through and got almost enough to make the "Nesting Tables" from latest Woodsmith mag. I think I may have buy stock for the tops and the longest legs.
Going to check a secoond store tomorrow. This company has 3 stores in Edmonton. Apparently the chunks come from a furniture maker in BC.
Anyways, I got almost all I need for under $100 and might have to spend another 40-50 if the chunks I still need are'nt available. the nice thing is that after I cut the pieces I need, I'll still have enough little pieces left over for some little trinket boxes or something.
I hope this is a decent deal.
It was certainly cheaper than buying all the lumber required @ $10+/bft.
