    How to darken Purpleheart?

I was using purpleheart, and after I ran it through the planer, it lost the deep purple color it had, and now it's very light. Is there anything I can do to make the deeper color come back? Also, I'm going to rub it down with butcher block oil, and that's the only finish that's going on there. Is there any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Never used it but I think it darkens with age and lack of light. I think light (sun) makes the color go away too.

Just the opposite. Set it in the sun light to bring the color back out.

Sun and air will do the trick...Time is all it takes

My understanding is that the air will turn it purple, and the sun will actually cause it to go brown over time (UV).

Will putting the butcher block oil on prevent the darkening? Or will time, sun, and air just change it regardless?

You are correct, if you leave it exposed for too long.

Put some suspended in a jar with a little muratic acid in the jar. Makes it a deeper cranberry color.
