Glue for vise jaw

I am currently working on the jaws for a homemade, twin screw, chain-drive, end vise. I have salvaged some white oak stingers from an old pallet for the jaws. The oak has some face cracks but seem to be solid otherwise. I am wondering if I shouldn't fill the cracks with glue just to be safe. My question is "would you use cva or epoxy to do this?" The cracks are very small but I would rather be safe than sorry later. I'm just looking for strength not beauty.

Any decent glue today is stronger than the wood fiber. Use the cheapest and if anything will ever fail - it is not likely to be the glue.

Are you talking about filling voids? If so, not just any glue will do, after all. You'll want something like a no-shrink epoxy, for example.

But, are you saying that the boards with surface cracking will be sandwiched by other boards? In that case, I don't think you really have any structural OR cosmetic problem to worry about.

Filling voids is a better way to describe it. The boards will not be sandwiched. The voids are very small probably less 1/16" across. I don't believe they run all the thru the board (face to face). But just to be safe I want to add some kind of adhesive filler. I think the non shrink epoxy will be the way to go. Thanks for the replies...
