    Router Table Insert throat plates

    Hi guys,

I was gonna make a router table, trying base it off of the Benchdog benchtop router table. I have two questions:

How well does a 1/4" sheet of phenolic work for holding up a router? Is it thick enough so that it won't flex under the weight of the router?

Secondly, how do you make and attach the throat plates into the phenolic sheet?

all the inserts ive seen are at least 3/8, so 14/" is an eighth under norm,if its a smaller router then should be ok???
i have a bunch of that stuff for sale if u need i'll hook you up with 1/2" or 3/4" for well under anyplace $.

for the throat plates all i did for mine was cut the oversize opening at an angle so the bottom slanted inwards, then cut round slanted inserts to match and to be barely a hair under, out of same thickness in wood... they fit perfectly like that and never came up on me so far, doubt ever will
