Equalizer extension slides for 4-leg dining table

I'd like to use equalizer slides (the kind with a cog in the center) for my upcoming dining table project. Most of the designs I've seen (and will probably use) require relatively long slides (40+"), but there are people like Lee Valley that sell these.

However, because equalizers are usually used on pedestal tables, the slides are often concave to prevent sagging of the outsides. With my 4-leg table, I'd need it to be convex, if anything. Does anyone know where I can get these?

If there are any good plans out there for this type of dining table design, I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction!

Would those slides work if you install them upside down?

Hi Scorrpio, actually a pretty good idea. I just kind of like seeing the cogs in action, and was hoping I could find something like that...

I'll have to take a look to see if the sides are machined proud (height-wise) on the bottom as well. If they were totally flush on the bottom, that might cause a lot of friction as well.

Ronak, I just looked at the ones I have. The center section stands proud on the bottom a bit. You would have to glue some shim strips to the outside rails to use them upside down, as well as redrilling the screw holes.

So I bought a set from Classic Table Legs (www.tablelegs.com). I was able to find 50" slides that extend as much again. Now we'll see how effectively I can make this into a table!
