    BT3100 Electric Motor

Hello everyone, I need a Motor for my BT3100. My saw is over three years old now and the motor has developed a very noticeable burning smell. I would like a replacement on hand before it finally burns out. So if anyone has an extra one that they are willing to part with, Please email me at.

I don't have allot of cash to spend on this , I'm on a fixed income and only paid $200 for the saw.
    Thanks
    Lance

Hi Lance - Check Craigslist.org or Ebay for occasional listings of used BT3x or motor.
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

I agree and also make sure you don't have a build up of sawdust anyplace in and around the motor.

Hey Guys, Yes I have cleaned the motor and checked the brushes.Question is how long were the brushes when new? Also I have been watching Craig's List and Ebay today. This all started today when I was re sawing some Hemlock for my Kitchen table project.

It maybe worth a try to replace the brushes and clean the commutator with a pencil eraser. I tried this with my old BT3000 motor and got a few more miles out of it before replacing it with a BT3100 motor.
