Any Teddy Roosevelt experts out there? (Non-political)

Teddy Roosevelt had a single veto override, but I can't seem to find what it was. Anyone know what he was overridden on?

Yeah, but I still have no idea why TR was so dead set against it and the congress was so much in favor it.

Wow, both of you have good search-skills! That's a good find.

Looks like TR was pissed with the overshooting of the deadline, but Congress must have found this the only time they could feed him his own medicine . After all he had 80-odd vetoes totally. Not as much as his champion nephew (FDR - 635), but still a lot.

I can add that this period was a time of great conflict between Teddy and Congress, even with those in his own party. A lot of chest thumping was going on, and the actual issues were often lost in the rhetoric.

Interestingly, in a sort of skewed way, this was not the only time that Congress overturned one of Roosevelt's actions. His order to dishonorably discharge the entire 25th Black Infantry Troop in 1906 was reversed by Congress... in 1972!!

Thanks guys! I got sucked into one of my 16 YO daughter's assignments. I saw a chart that he had one veto overridden, and curiosity got the best of me--I just couldn't find it!

                Thanks again!
