    Giving up the addiction.

Can't work IN the shop? Ventilation issue (allergy to wood stuff)? Maybe something you could do a little outside?

I understand the health issue, with all the issues I have had, but I try to figure out how to adapt and overcome first.

Worst case, can you whittle, while you post here, LOL

Take care of yourself, everyones hoping for the best.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Thanks to alll for your thoughts.
I will not leave the forum.
My problem is that my old legs go out from underneath at times with no warning. I decided that it is to dangerous for me to be working with power tools. Hate to hit my head on a spinning lathe.

Any possibility of using a stool while turning? Could maybe buy all of your pen blanks and just stop milling your own wood? I know that with a stool it would be tiresome leaning forward but I was looking at a stool my dentist's assistant uses. It has an 'armrest' that she puts in front of her that she leans on. Just trying to help a little, Dick. I'm not in your shoes and can't possibly know your situation so no offense intended.

          Blessings to you and yours,
          Chiz

At one time, we did have a poster who was in a wheel chair. Over at another forum, we have a paraplegic woodworker, using the Eurekazone system. I know your more into turning, so if you do give it up, consider teaching some of it, to keep yourself active. You've learned a few things that others will have to learn the hard way otherwise.

Sorry to hear of your declining health and I sincerely sympathize, Dick. But you must do what is necessary as with all phases we pass through in life.

You will probably have a difficult time selling over the net. Many may want your tools but just too far to make it practical. I put a 12" BS and 6" jointer up for sale and not one inquiry. So...... a bit of advice.

Google to find if there are some local WW clubs local. Contact the president or someone that can advise you the best direction to take. Most WW clubs have entry level WW's that would love to get their hands on your tools and not have to shell out retail. You probably remember just getting started as I do a long time ago and how we buy what will get us by at that time.

Local clubs are an excellent way to get rid of when up-grading and acquire when in need, IMO. And there is not the problem of shipping cost, etc..

                Highest regards...

                  Dick

Sorry to hear about you health issue. I have to agree with Sam, look into some kind of accommodation device for the disabled. I am sure they have them as the ADA requires these in Industry. Who you might be able to get Social Security to fund it for. Don't get rid of you shop until you have researched all the possibilities. In December I was informed of a health issue discovered during a MRI of my back, which may require me to give up part of one of my hobbies, not woodworking, I am waiting for a second opinion before I decide. Good luck on your issue and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

                  Tom

Here is a stool you might want to consider.

                      Wishing you the very best.

I sent you a PM on your tools ... I live in Bellevue but before you sell them I think there was some great advice in the previous posts to reconfigure your shop and keep most everything if your health is up to it.

I would be more than happy to come over on a weekend or after work some night to assist you in moving the heavy stuff around to get you set up in a different way if you want.

Today my doctor told me to keep the shop as it was a good incentive to look forward to.
                              He said "Don't give up"
I think he wants another pen.
