    Killer deals on table saws?

Found these on Austin craigslist. Company is a mobile home mfg.

For most it would require changing out the motor but if the price is right...

I don't blame the company for replacing their saws, especially in places like Texas where juries are often irrational about personal injury cases. If employees keep taking the guards off because they're inconvenient, the cost of replacing 200 saws at 5 grand apiece is cheap compared with the cost of paying one claim on severed fingers.

Those of us who are hobbyists are making a different economic judgement that's not entirely rational either. For me, the cost of losing a finger in a saw accident far outweighs the cost of a Sawstop-equipped saw, but I choose not to spend the money and hope like **** I'm careful enough (gotta get a Shark Guard here soon).

This would be a Workers Compensation case, not a personal injury case. Medical and paid time off would be expensive but there are no punative damages.

I know that Middletown Lumber (shop/retailer) recently replaced their cabinet saw with a SS after an employee cut his finger off. I saw the saw and went into the shop and asked how he liked it. He showed me his reattached finger and said he would have liked it a lot better a couple months ago! LOL!

I would not be suprised to see workers comp carriers giving small discounts for SS equiped shops.

Are we ultimately going to end up with this technology on all machines? My worst injury was as a kid involving a BS.

Finally, I would take a liability case in TX any day over CA! LOL!
