    WTB: Saw Gage or (gauge?)

The plastic parts at both ends of miter fence. I think thats what the manual calls them. I bought used long rip fence which doesn't have them (damaged). If anyone has them in good condition, I'd like to buy them.

i think it was rod-kirby or rayinuk. (one of them aussie/british accented fellas :P ) who'd made their own endcaps out of hardwood or mdf.

    it looked excellent!
if i can get around to making them too, u can have mine for $x postage paid(ie:free). though you may wanna make your own

rod kirby submitted plans for a sliding miter fence that eliminated the need for the black plastic ends. i made this fence and find it far superior to the black plastic on the smt.

now that the articles are back, you can check out rod's jig at:

Thanks for the pointer. I'm too newbie to drill holes into the fence and the only jig I have made so far was rip fence jig as in leeway website. So, for now, plastics
        will do...

Any particular reason you need them? I hated the plastic thingys on my miter fence and took them off. Never missed them either

They give couple of inches of RIP fence length on both ends...Thats the only benefit I could think of...
