    Would a 12x12 patio block fit in the bottom of the box?

      I doubt it .. and why would you want to do that?

      The space at the bottom of the drain acts as a "trash trap". The dirt and debris picked up by the water falls out to the bottom as the water runs out the drain hoses. About once a year I have to clean out the bottom of the drains. You can let the muck collect at the bottom of the drain or you can let it get into the drain line and get caught on those little ridges and eventually clog the line.

      Here is an exact cut and paste from one manufacturers product description;

      Key Features of NDS Catch Basins and Grates
      • Grates available in plastic, brass, steel, or cast iron
      • NDS offers various sizes ranging from 6" to 24" square
      • Use Universal Adapters to connect to 3" - 12" drain pipes
      • NDS offers grates that are load rated from pedestrian to heavy vehicular traffic
      • Catch basins include sump area that collects debris to prevent clogging of drain pipe
      • Bottom outlet option
