Had a "used" shed dropped off for free about 15 years ago, exterior was OSB, interior was insulated with musty carpet lining the walls/ceiling. Kept stuff dry, but the OSB had finally rotted away around the bottom. Seeing no studs through the holes in the outside walls, i took some carpeting off the walls to find that the front and back walls were holding up the building, with two horizontal members connecting them. Oddly, the carpet (attached with roofing nails) on the interior walls created a sort of loose torsion box.
I waffled for a few weeks over whether to build new or proceed with the intended rehab. Finally decided it was worth the risk to re-skin it. In the end--since i had to brace the roof every time i worked on a new spot, it would have been faster, easier, and much safer to build new. But, we got it done for about $600 less than new and now it has studs on 4 sides. Doors were my idea--came out pretty nice i think.
Thanks to y'all for the education you've passed on. Picking up stuff on here made me try it!!
