    Furnace igniters are brittle

Should of kept a spare? Yep, that was it, Saturday evening and no chance of getting another until this morning unless I wanted to pay a scalpers fee for emergency service.
Sometimes the old man passed out and left the am radio on so I got to hear the oldie songs and current event kind of things

The igniter for the oven in my gas stove quit after about three years. Got a replacement for $35 after searching the internet. Most places wanted $55 to $61. Hard to believe the pricing for a part that was designed to fail.

I had mine go out a few years back on a Saturday night, like you. My temporary solution was to turn up the thermostat and light the furnace by hand. The furnace would run til it hit the desired temperature. I wouldn't re-light it until it got down to the 60's. Not the best solution, but I didn't have to pay $400 for a 40 dollar part.
