Do herbicides (non-selective vegetation killers) lose their potency after a couple of years? I don't recall this to have been the case but times and products do change.

IIRC they do have a shelf life. Although if unopened and kept away from temperature extremes they'll last for years.Donate to my Tour de Cure

They last longer than the label says based upon experience. However, efficacy probably diminishes over time.
I emptied some leftover Round-Up (mixed from concentrate last year and sat in the sprayer over the winter) this summer on a garden bed that I intend to turn back to grass. It shouldn't have been enough - even if it was fresh. But, all of the overgrowth is nice and brown. This stuff frankly scares me a little but I'm careful when I work with it.Comment

Try a little test spot in a neighbor's yard, and let us know how it goes.

Murphy's law dictates that if you wanted to use it for the weeds in the garden, it will prove ineffective; but if some person had ingested it, s/he will need emergency attention
