    New Room Update

Windows are in, insulation is in. I have a few more things to do but will get the inspection this week. Next step is drywall.

I'm certainly no expert on framing, but in your second picture, shouldn't there be trimmer studs underneath both ends of the sill to help transfer the load from the header to the sole plate?

Phil, yes if the window were load bearing. In a strange way, the wall is load bearing but because the beam above it is the size it is and it carries the roof, the windows aren't carrying a load. I could have framed the windows with just a single 2x4 for the header and sill. I doubled them to give more nailing surface to the flange for the window.

Great job. It will look like it was a part of the existing house the whole time.

Thanks, I have just never seen one quite like that.

What do you plan on putting in the corner by the closet? Why not just extend the closet to the wall?

Nice job. That is going to be a nice space.

A chair. Trying to create a reading nook kinda thing, or so the designer says.

I would finish the siding before the drywall.

Get the outside all sealed up and then finish the inside.

                      It's looking good btw.

                      My 2 cents.
