    Fine Homebuilding

Well, not really - but its a nifty doggy domicile!

My pooch turned 1 year old recently, and we decided she needed to spend more time in the yard during the day (we are primarily raising her to be a house dog.) But out of concern for the heat of the day, LOML requested a commodious "cabin-esque" condo with ventilation for the little princess. Well, no longer little really, at 85lbs.

We bought some really affordable dog-eared (appropriate, no?) rough cedar fencing, which we jointed/planed/cut/routed into chamfered ship-lap boards (it was a labor of love.) The lean-to roof is hinged in the back for easy cleaning access, and the whole of it is finished (inside and out) with two coats of Behr's "natural" outdoor weatherproofing sealer.

Both the pooch and LOML love it - and it fits where I planned it to, so I'm happy too. Thanks for looking.

That's a pretty fancy doghouse. Nice work. Is the roof removable?

          Thanks for the kind words.

Mike - I can take the roof off by removing the hinge screws in the back.

Bill - between jointing and planing, I filled two 30gal trash bags with cedar shavings. This project required 28 6'x6in fence boards to produce. The dimensions (outer) are 29in deep, 40in long, the front is 30in high, and the back is 40 in tall.

Rand - its large enough for me to fit in with room to spare. Not sure if this part of LOML's design was intentional
