    New carpet; new tack strips?

After a very long time, we are replacing the carpeting in the dining room and lining room. I am ripping up the carpet to make some repairs before the carpet guys install the new carpet.
Question: Do I rip up the old tack strips and have them install new tack strips?

    Thanks,

    Bill

I left the old ones in and the installer didn't have a problem.

If they're in good shape there is no need to rip them up and replace them.

Agreed. Unless they are broken, rotting from exposure to liquids or in some other way damaged, leave them in. They don't go bad over time, so they should be fine.
