    New Home Update

Started new thread since I had to delete the Pics from the old one. Its been a while since I posted, no pics this time as not much has changed in the appearance of the house.

On Thursday we passed the rough electrical, rough plumbing and framing on the house. So now its on to insulation, drywall and siding on the house. The winter snows cost us 2 months of lost work but now the weather is great again.

Passed the final inspection on the garage but the Inspector won't sign it off until the final is passed on the house.

We have six minor corrections to do from this last inspection on the house but the inspector is allowing us to continue as if we have already corrected these issues. Great guy who is really interested in helping us. I believe its because we are doing all the work ourselves.

I'll post a few pics of the garage when I get a chance.

Thanks for posting! I was just wondering how things had been coming along. Good to hear the inspections have gone well.

Here is a pic of the garage with siding done, actually its all done except for the temporary steps to the side door and electrical panel.

Completed some of the siding and the window trim on the front of the house so its starting to look a little like a real home. Below the siding will eventually have stone installed but thats a ways down the road. Siding is going on really fast. We will finish the front tomorrow and then continue on around the house.

          Siding

House looks nice, but I am curious as to what type siding you are installing. I have never seen any installed from the top down. Am I seeing it correctly?

I think it is bottom up and the lower part is going to be some kind of stone? Just a guess.

Siding is fiber-cement made by CertainTeed pre-stained mahogany. We installed it from the bottom up. There is a 3 1/2 inch trim board below the siding that seperates it from the area at the bottom that will have stone installed. Kind of hard to see in the picture. The siding is pretty fragile and we have to be careful when we pick it up, cut it or nail it.

Not yet but hopefully in about 6 months. After this is finished I think I will finally know what it feels like to give birth to a baby.

Garage is separate due to the terrain of the lot. No space to have an attached garage and still have the size of house that we (or should I say she) wanted.

Your guess is exactly right. Stone will be from the ground to about halfway up the wall on the first floor and floor to ceiling on the entry porch.
