    Lighting suggestions needed

I just installed a new ceiling fan (this one: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...721&lpage=none) in the master bedroom. I told LOML I was concerned about the amount of light when she picked it out; it's only got a single 60W candelabra bulb. She wanted it anyway, now it's in and, as expected, doesn't provide enough light. So I'm looking for fixes.

My current best option, I think, is to get an adapter to plug in a standard bulb instead of the candelabra bulb, then replace the little bulb with a dimmable (we could live without the dimmable feature, but would prefer not to) CFL bulb that'd be a 100W equivalent.

I had also considered looking for an adapter to plug in 2 or 3 candelabra bulbs into the single fixture, but I've been told that's a bad idea due to heat generation (the light is inside an enclosed glass sphere).

What other options am I missing completely? Does anyone have any experience with dimmable CFL's? I had a guy in a lighting store basically tell me that there aren't any on the market, though I've found several in Amazon and other online retailers... Maybe he just meant there weren't any _good_ ones out there?

Don't really know about the CFL's.

Ahother option might be to install a different light kit on the fan. Lowes and Homedepot have a pretty good selection.

in all likely hood the candelabra socket is only rated for 60 Watts. Up sizing to a larger socket you are still limited to 60 Watts because of heat.

You could although install a CFL of sixty watts and get close to 3 times the amount of light from it.

In the last month I have seen dimable CFL bulbs but have not used any yet. They have just com out in the last couple months. I have used dimmable florescent tubes in the commercial environment and they require a burn in at full output for 24 hours. The new bulbs may also require this high output in the beginning, so be sure and read they instructions if you choose to use them..

I'd interested in this too, as I tried and gave up some time back. I thought the heat issue could be circumvented with a CFL, but there's no CFL with a candelabra base.

I was not aware of any adaptor for regular to candelabra, but you might want to also check for the available space for the bulb, particularly if it is enclosed. Candelabra bulbs are smaller than regular CFL bulbs.

edit : saw the pic now, and you should not have a problem with the bulb size. So much so that I'd recommend you could check if CFL that are equivalent to 100w or even 200w could fit the adaptor.

I was just at costco today and bought candelabra based LED lights they work well and looks like the draw about 1/3 of the power delivering the lumens of a normal light.
