    Cutting carpet edging strip

Looking for ideas on how to cut the existing carpet metal door edging strip w/o ripping it up. It is too long and preventing the door jamb from extending to the floor. Is it just easier to pull it up, cut it, and reinstall? How is it attached to the floor?

    Carpet Strip

There was a discussion concerning the Fein tool the other day. I would use mine with the fine tooth metal cutting blade to cut the strip. The nice thing about the Fein is that the blade oscilates back and forth instead of turning in a circle and throwing "stuff" all around.
Most metal carpet strips are held down with small nails. After installing, the carpet is cut to fit it and then the top strip is hammered down to hold the carpet in place. Any fine tooth blade that you have will cut it.
    Hope this helps.
    Have a good Thanksgiving.

A scrap piece of wood for a handle on a hacksaw blade would work.
