    I also wanted to point out that the nest is far away. You can get your house treated, but the lumber sitting on the ground 10 feet away can still get infected. The whole yard does not get treated so you will still see termites out and about even after treatment.

      Yes, their nest could be hundreds of yards away. You need to kill them first. I would do the bait station around my house first then saturate the stump with poison mixed with old motor oil. We call them ground termites and they can eat a home up in 3 months if you're not diligent. We had new homes eaten B4 the owners moved in. 70% of all the new homes built in Hawaii are now steel framed because of the termite problem.

        You have some hungry termites in Hawaii! They are definitely not that fast here in the NC-VA region and if you actually can find the queen, do not kill it. A lot of research institutions will pay for it because they are hard to find alive.
