trim with rot at end

replaced 2 pieces of 5/4's by 9 foot, window trim because of rot at the bottom. the third piece only has rot 4 inches up. is there any way removing the rot without removing the trim, and without damaging the tyvec or plywood underneath?

any ideas appreciated

If you can remove the rotted part leave a scarf cut and piece in new wood. Or, if it's painted wood, you can scrape/gouge out the rot, let it dry out, fill with Bondo, sand, and repaint.
